Court grants 5-day remand of e-commerce firm eOrange top executives in money embezzlement cases

A court has granted five-day remand of Sonia Mehjabin, owner of e-commerce company eOrange, and three others, including her husband Masukur Rahman, in a case of embezzling Tk1100 crore of customers.

Dhaka — A court has granted five-day remand of Sonia Mehjabin, owner of e- company , and three others, including her husband Masukur Rahman, in a case of embezzling Tk1100 crore of customers.

The other accused is Aman Ullah, the chief operating officer of E-. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan issued the remand order after a hearing on Monday.

On Monday, the investigating officer of the case applied for remand of the three accused of 10 days. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan granted remand for five days each.

Earlier, a man named Taherul Islam filed a case against five owners and directors of e-Orange at Gulshan police station on August 17 for embezzling Tk 11,100 crore.

Later Sonia Mehjabin, the owner of E-Orange, and her husband Masukur Rahman surrendered to the court through a lawyer on the day the case was filed. The judge denied bail and ordered them to be sent to jail.

Apart from Sonia, Masukur, and Amanullah, all the owners of e-Orange, including Bithi Akhtar and Kawsar, have been accused in the case. However, the number of people own the company was not mentioned in that lawsuit.
