Dhaka — On National Mourning Day, 46th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ICT department has paid its tribute. August 15 is a scandalous chapter in the history of the nation.

On this day in 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader and father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time was martyred at his residence in Dhanmondi by the ruthless bullets of the assassins with the direct and indirect help of the conspirators against the war of liberation and independence.

At the same time, Bangabandhu’s wife Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and many close relatives including Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and infant son Sheikh Russell were martyred. Such ugly incidents are rare not only in the history of the country but also in the history of the world.

On the occasion of the National Mourning Day and Bangabandhu Martyrdom Anniversary on 15 August, a wreath was laid at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at ICT Tower under the of NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology.

Officers and staff of the Department of Information and Communication Technology and the ICT Department, Bangladesh Computer Council, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park, Controller of Certifying Authority, Agency and projects under the department were present on the occasion.

A minute’s silence was observed to wish peace to the souls of the brutally slain Bangabandhu and other martyrs of his family.
