Dhaka: Initiatives have been taken to set up a city high-tech park on about 115 acres of land in the capital’s Demra. The entire park will be developed by the City Group.
The launch of the private high-tech park will create about 15,000 jobs, according to a press release from the City group. Earlier on May 31, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority declared ‘City Hi-Tech Park’ as a private high-tech park.
As a result, investors in this park will get a one-stop service from Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority with 14 incentive facilities. Today (Thursday) the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority recognized Citi Group as the park developer through an informal ceremony.
NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology was present as the Chief Guest at the signing ceremony.

According to the notification, the City group is currently producing and supplying one-third of the total demand of Bangladesh.
The City group has recently expressed interest in setting up a high-tech park to diversify its business in a competitive market system. The City group has already begun work on preparing a master plan, conducting a feasibility study, and conducting an environmental survey after receiving permission to set up the park last May.
As part of the agreement on Thursday, Citygroup will develop all types of off-site and on-site facilities as a high-tech park developer, including landfilling, electricity, gas, and water supply, construction of standard buildings, wide roads inside the park, lakes, high-quality food courts, and STPs.
The park will have the opportunity to do all the work associated with the development.
In addition, all modern facilities will be ensured in the park to attract domestic and foreign investors.
Speaking as the chief guest at the signing ceremony, NM Ziaul Alam, senior secretary, ICT department, said, “Other companies in the country will also be encouraged as big companies like Citigroup come forward to set up high-tech parks.”
Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (Finance and Administration) NM Shafiqul Islam and officials of both the organizations were present at the signing ceremony.
