BRAC and City Bank caution customers amid growing fraud cases against e-commerce firms in Bangladesh

Other companies on the ban list are Aladdin's Lamp, Qcom, e-Orange, Sirajganj Shopping, Adian Mart, Boom Boom, Needs.com BD, and Dhamaka Shopping.

— The BRAC Bank has banned purchases through credit, debit, and prepaid cards from 10 sites, including Evaly and Alesha Mart. The bank has taken precautionary measures against these marketplaces.

Other companies on the ban list are Aladdin’s Lamp, Qcom, , Sirajganj Shopping, Adian Mart, Boom Boom, Needs.com BD, and Dhamaka Shopping.

Meanwhile, City Bank also cautioned customers that it will not be held responsible for any kind of fraud in online shopping with Citibank’s American Express (Amex) card, bank officials said.

According to the directive, City Bank will not be held responsible for any fraudulent shopping at these five sites of Evaly, Alesha Mart, Dhamaka Shopping, e-Orange, and Sirajganj Shopping. 

Officials at the two banks’ card departments said the bank’s customers were being discouraged from making these online purchases as part of a precaution.
