Dhaka — The door of new employment is constantly opening in the information technology sector. This sector has created immense opportunities for unemployed youth to become successful entrepreneurs. With this in mind, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina‘s government has paid special attention to the information technology sector after taking power.
The unemployed youth of the country is gradually becoming self-reliant. Not only being self-reliant, but some are also becoming successful entrepreneurs. One of them is Mohammad Alamin of Netrokona.
The 31-year-old Alamin Union Digital Center has become a self-reliant and successful entrepreneur with the help of various information and communication technology (ICT) based training programs of the government.
However, the task was not so easy for Alamin of Hiranpur village in Narandia union of Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona district. He had to face many obstacles to create self-employment in the digital centre. Alamin said all his efforts failed. But in the midst of this frustration, he found the light in the government’s ICT program.
Alamin said, ‘I came to know in 2010 that a three-month computer training program will start in the meeting room of Netrokona District Youth Development Department. Then I went there and took part in the training program with the help of an officer of the department. ‘
This training showed him the way to the future. “I successfully completed the training,” he said. From there, I acquire computer and ICT based knowledge including computer operation, email, data collection through internet browsing, filing online applications for jobs at home and abroad. ”
Later in the same year, he got another opportunity to participate in the ICT Network week-long training program held at the Netrokona Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the supervision of the District Administration and ICT Department.
Within a month, he received permission from the UNO office to work as an entrepreneur at the Union Digital Center. Then Alamin’s unemployed life took a turn. “My life took a turn for the worse when I started working at the Union Digital Center,” Alamin said.
As an entrepreneur, he has participated in various training programs since 2012 (A2I), using information and data provided by the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Local Government Department, and District and Upazila Administration on ‘ICT and Computer Operating’. Get the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge.
In these training programs, you can learn in detail about computers and ICT networks including e-commerce, digital marketing, hardware, software, and outsourcing.
Thus, enriching himself with various kinds of supportive services from the government, Alamin became a trained and skilled entrepreneur at one time. Alamin said, “By 2020, I started dreaming of building a smart career as a successful and professional ICT worker. In addition to providing digital services to rural people, we also started an online-based marketing activity. ‘
Alamin said on an emotional note, “Now my dream is going to come true. I have been able to make a regular income and my socio-economic status has improved. This has removed the uncertainty.”
Alamin expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her IT advisor Sajib Wazed Joy for improving her socio-economic status and establishing herself as a successful entrepreneur.
Mohammad Khukan Mia, acting chairman of Narandia Union Parishad said many poor unemployed youths in his union like Alamin have become self-reliant by acquiring computer and ICT-based knowledge through government-initiated training on computer and ICT networks under the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Zia Ahmed Sumon, Deputy Director, Netrokona Local Government Department, said, ‘The Union and Upazila Digital Centres represent an important part of the integration of service delivery and decentralization, local government strengthening, and empowerment.
He said 92 digital centers have been set up in different places of 86 unions in ten Upazilas of the district; Where modern and necessary such as computers, laptops, laser and color printers, projectors, modems, scanners, and photostat machines.
He said that these digital centers have created huge opportunities for people to avail themselves of hundreds of services including birth and death certificates, citizenship certificates, photocopies, computer composing, photography, internet browsing, electricity bill payment, and online application for jobs.
Many unemployed youths have the opportunity to work as entrepreneurs and digital service providers in digital centers to earn a living and become self-sufficient.
Netrokona Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman said the government’s ICT foundation providing training activities is playing an important role in showing self-employment and self-reliance of unemployed youth.
In this program, grassroots digital centres scattered in remote areas of the country are providing necessary services to the doorsteps of the people.
