Dhaka — The state minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has said that “” is a reliable technology to make sure transparency and accountability in financial and administrative activities.

“If we do not adopt this technology, we will fall behind. We do not want to lag behind in using Frontier technology. “

He also mentioned that economic development should be taken forward using up-to-date technology in every field including agriculture, education, and health.

The state minister made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the award ceremony among the winners of “Blockchain Olympiad -2021” organized by the ICT Department and Bangladesh Blockchain Olympiad at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Auditorium here today.

“We are working towards a target of earning 5 billion in export revenue from the IT / ITS sector by 2025,” he said.

There are currently six and a half lakh IT freelancers in the country. They are earning more than 500 million. Hardware and software combined are generating 1 billion through skilled manpower.

Noting that there is no end to education in a rapidly changing world, the state minister, said: “300 schools in future are being set up in the country to impart hands-on education on disruptive technology in the face of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology is being established in 2041 to create the best technologists in developed Bangladesh.

Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers are being set up in 64 districts to enable young people to become proficient in , BigData, Robotics, Blockchain, Augmented Reality, and Microprocessor Design technology to ensure employment. 8,000 Sheikh Russell Digital Labs have been established across the country.

He said the International Blockchain Olympiad 2021 will be held in Bangladesh this year. The probable date is set for October 8-10.

He called upon the youth to establish their talents and abilities in the world court by participating in the Olympiad.

Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Parthapratim Deb presided over the function while ICT Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam, BCOLBD Coordinator Habibullah N Karim, and Dhaka University Professor Mohammad Abdul Momen spoke.

Later, the Minister of State distributed prizes among the winners of the “Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh-2021” competition.

256 teams from 50 universities registered for this competition. 40 teams were shortlisted in the competition through a white paper evaluation. Out of these 40 teams, the top 10 teams have been declared the winners, the first prize of Tk Dhaka University's IBA's “Masala Dosa” won the second prize of Tk 60,000. The third prize of Tk 40,000 was won by “Troychain” of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology.

The winner in the prototype category is Shahjalal University of Science and Technology's “Flow”. The winner in the Document Authentication category is “Brogrammers” from Asia Pacific University. The winner in the Identity / Privacy category is “D. Nimbus” of the Institute of Information Technology, Dhaka University.

BUET's “Hopefully Hypothetically” won the Fintech category. BUET's team “Kryptonite” has won in the supply chain province category. Team Rocket of Dhaka University has won in the e-Governance category and the Rompecadenas team of United International University (UIU) has won in the e-Health category.
