Bangladesh: Software Technology Park to be built in Kawran Bazar

The 12-story green building with 1 lakh 20 thousand square feet of space will cost around Tk150 crore.

Dhaka: The State Minister for (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that another will be set up in Kawran Bazar to meet the demand for space in the software technology park and to create a suitable branding ecosystem for companies investing in the IT sector.

The 12-story green building with 1 lakh 20 thousand square feet of space will cost around Tk150 crore.

The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Palak made the remarks while addressing a function to hand over the land allotted by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in favour of Bangladesh Hi- Park Authority for setting up Vision 2021 Tower-2 Software Technology Park on Thursday afternoon.

ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Chairman, Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) was present as the special guest at the handover ceremony at Vision 2021 Tower-1 Software Technology Park (formerly Janata Tower) at Kawran Bazar.

Palak said: “on August 3, 2010, at the first meeting of the Task Force, the Prime Minister decided to allocate in favour of the Department of Information and Communication Technology to set up a software technology park at Vision-2021 Tower (formerly Janata Tower) in Kawran Bazar.”

In view of this, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works on November 24, 2010, allocated the Vision-2021 tower in favor of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, he added.

ANM Shafiqul Islam, Director (Joint-Secretary), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, said, And a project called ‘Innovation Ecosystem Development’. The main objective of the project is to encourage private investment and create employment by building an innovation ecosystem in Bangladesh.

Additional Secretary of the ICT Department was present as a special guest at the land handover ceremony Khandaker Azizul Islam; Senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, ICT Department, Capital Development Authority (RAJUK), and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority were also present on the occasion. Director (Joint-Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Syed Zahurul Islam delivered the closing speech.
