Dhaka — The (RAB), the elite security force of is using a state-of-the-art technology device called (OIVS) to instantly identify any person.

The mobile-like OIVS device can be operated from anywhere via an Internet connection. With the easy-to-carry device, an anonymous person's fingerprint, national identity card number or date of birth, and other information including the identity of the person can be known from the spot.

RAB says that the success of this new device has been matched from the beginning. , commander of the RAB's law and media branch, said that with the modernization of technology, criminals are also adopting various tactics. Earlier, if any incident took place, it was collected and taken to the nearest RAB office. Later, recovered signs such as , national identity card numbers had to be identified. So much time would have been wasted.

“At present, it is possible to identify an unidentified person at the fastest time by collecting fingerprints from the scene through OIVS technology. This is speeding up the criminal investigation.”

He said that this easily portable device is playing a very important role in identifying the culprits. The device will provide information on national identity cards, criminal databases and prison databases.

If we enter the national identity card number, date of birth or fingerprint of a person in it, we will see the information of that person. This will make it possible to know instantly whether the person is involved in the murder or any other criminal activity involved in the murder.

He further said that not only the culprits are being identified through this device, but also the identities of various unidentified persons are being identified. This modern device has been successful in more than 10 cases in about 4 months of starting use.

Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Khairul Islam, head of the intelligence department of the force, told the media that the device has been used in 15 battalions across the country. For the skills to operate the device, officers of different levels are being trained.

However, company commanders of different battalions are currently operating the device. In addition to fingerprints, national identity cards and dates of birth, pictures will also be added to the technology. Work is going on in this regard. The device will also have information about anyone who needs to be investigated by RAB.

The OIVS device can be operated by senior officers from ASP rank working in RAB with their own ID. RAB officials said that the security of the device has also been ensured so that no one gets the opportunity to use the device for any kind of misconduct.
