Dhaka — Bangladesh‘s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has piloted the country-made video conferencing platform ‘Baithak’. On Sunday, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen inaugurated the platform at an event held on the ‘Baithak’ app.
Foreign Minister said, “This app will be a shining example for the Bangladeshi software industry.” This will allow us to rely less on other apps, including Zoom. ‘
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the foreign ministry would initially use the meeting app.
The app will then be open to other government ministries and departments and later to the general public. They want to make the ‘meeting’ platform competitive with platforms like Zoom, Webex, Timz.
“Hosting on Bangladesh’s own server will make it easier to ensure data security,” he said.
Besides, we can save huge amounts of foreign currency. The Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister’s office, the Cabinet Division have already shown interest in the meeting app. In addition to the internal use of the government, it will soon be open to the public.
