Dhaka: The government will provide soft skills training to 5 lakh job seekers and professionals in the next five years. To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has recently been signed between the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the Department of Information and Communication Technology and the Wadani Operating Foundation (WOF), a US-based non-profit organization.
As a result, 5 lakh job seekers and professionals will be trained by 2026 through BCC’s training platform —bdskills.gov.bd. Tareq M Barkatullah, BCC’s Leveraging ICT Project Director and CA Operating and Security Director of the Data Center, and WOF’s Executive Director Dr. Ajay Kela signed the MoU on behalf of his organization.
Registration for the training on the platform will start in the last week of this month and the training will start in September.
Regarding the MoU and training, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government, in collaboration with a world-renowned organization, would impart quality soft skills training to job seekers and professionals in the next five years from September to enhance interpersonal communication, leadership skills Increases.
The state minister said the transformation through technology will create a huge number of jobs in the country and in the world market in the next decade.
Various companies at home and abroad are creating jobs in data and artificial intelligence economics, engineering, cloud computing, and product development. This will greatly increase the demand for people trained in soft skills.
NM Ziaul Alam, senior secretary, information and communication technology department (ICT), said about 3.5 lakh students graduate from various universities and colleges every year. Many of them do not have enough knowledge in soft skills.
Therefore, training is being started to fill the gaps in the soft skills of a large number of job seekers and professionals. Like hard skills, knowledge of soft skills is required for people of almost all professions, he added.
Tareq M Barkatullah said the BCC is implementing various initiatives to enhance the skills and abilities of educated youth to create skilled human resources.
Adding to this initiative is training in soft skills, which will enhance the skills and abilities of both job seekers and employees.
Sami Ahmed, Policy Advisor, LICT Project will coordinate and oversee the quality of the entire training.
He said there would be a team to monitor the quality of training. Those who will join the job after receiving training will also be tracked. We want to make training meaningful by ensuring quality.
