Dhaka — Technology giant Microsoft has appointed Md Yousup Faruqu as the managing director for Bangladesh. In this role, Faruqu will be responsible for the company’s overall growth and strategy aimed at public and private sector organizations including small and medium businesses.
Suk Hun Chiah, General Manager, Southeast Asia New Markets, Microsoft Asia Pacific, said: “Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia Pacific region. We are proud to be able to help Bangladesh achieve its goal of becoming a developed country by 2041.”
He added that one of the means to achieve this goal is to make IT-enabled public services dynamic and increase the use of cloud services in the country. “It is here that Faruqui’s industry experience will play an important role in ensuring the adoption of cloud services in the country, enhancing the relevant skills and ensuring positive transformation through the cloud,” said Microsoft.
“I’m thrilled to see how he and his team will be able to partner together and manage the capacity building in a market full of continuous innovation,” Suk Hun Chiah said.
In a career spanning over 16 years, Faruqu has worked with organisations such as VMware, Banglalink Digital Communication and Symbiosis Bangladesh.
Faruqu holds a bachelor’s degree in computer applications from the University of Bangalore, India.

I look forward to working with our partners and the community to transform the country, the industry, and its capabilities,” Faruqu said.
