Apple Inc. is an American multinational technology company founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, and headquartered in Cupertino, California. The company designs, manufactures and sells consumer electronics, software and online services. Its flagship hardware products include the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods, while its services portfolio encompasses the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Pay and iCloud. Apple develops several proprietary operating systems including iOS, iPadOS and macOS. The company operates more than 540 retail stores worldwide. In May 2025, Apple announced that John Ternus will succeed Tim Cook as chief executive officer from 1 September 2026, with Cook transitioning to executive chairman.
