US-based data protection solutions provider Veeam Software has elevated Kushagra Sharma as Director Marketing for India and SAARC.
In this role Sharma will oversee Veeam’s marketing strategy, brand positioning and market presence across enterprise, government, public sector and hyperscaler segments in the region.

Under his leadership the marketing team has launched campaigns highlighting innovation and reliability, helping clients understand the value of data protection solutions.
Alongside his marketing responsibilities, Sharma has played a key role in Veeam’s Bharat Cyber Suraksha initiative. This programme is designed to support India’s cyber resilience through skilling, awareness and institutional capacity building.
Under his guidance the initiative launched the ‘Saksham and Sakshar Bharat’ mission, aiming to certify one million individuals in AI, cloud and cybersecurity, reflecting broader national objectives for digital advancement.
With over 20 years of experience in marketing, technology and sales, Sharma has been involved in business transformation and growth initiatives.
Before Veeam he held senior marketing roles at Citrix, VMware, Micro Focus, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and IBM, where he worked on go-to-market strategies, digital initiatives and partner ecosystem development.
His experience spans enterprise software, cloud technologies and large-scale IT services, providing a broad perspective on market trends and customer needs.
An alumnus of UCLA Anderson School of Management and IIM Bangalore, Sharma combines business leadership with interests in storytelling, ESG and wellness. He is also the founder of 505 Circle, a platform that highlights changemakers through storytelling, podcasts and thought leadership.
At Veeam Sharma’s new mandate include supporting enterprises and governments in enhancing cyber resilience, cloud adoption and data management, positioning the company as a provider of data protection in India and the SAARC markets.
He will also work on expanding Veeam’s business beyond Microsoft 365 by supporting adoption of data protection for Kubernetes workloads, Salesforce environments and other SaaS applications, reflecting the increasing demand for cloud-native data solutions.
Sharma’s elevation comes at a time when the regional data protection market is evolving, with organisations seeking solutions that combine security, flexibility and scalability, while Veeam is witnessing more than double-digit growth in India.
