Franco-Italian multinational semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics has launched its upgraded STEVAL-MKI109D sensor evaluation board, designed to simplify prototyping for context-aware applications using MEMS sensors.
The new hardware incorporates an STM32H5 microcontroller, USB-C connectivity and I3C digital interface support, marking a significant upgrade from previous versions, said a statement.
The board works in tandem with ST MEMS Studio, the company’s graphical development environment that enables real-time sensor data analysis and configuration.
The company claimed that engineers demonstrated its plug-and-play functionality by connecting sensor modules to a PC for immediate data visualisation and parameter adjustment. The system supports advanced features including machine learning capabilities for AI applications and power monitoring tools for energy efficiency optimisation.
STMicroelectronics’ MEMS portfolio spans inertial sensors, pressure sensors and microphones serving multiple industries. The solution finds applications in consumer electronics, automotive systems including navigation and driver assistance features, industrial equipment and healthcare devices among others.
The company provides compatible evaluation modules for each sensor type along with specialised accessories like biosensor electrodes.
According to company executives, the upgraded evaluation board significantly reduces development cycles by offering comprehensive sensor testing capabilities in one package.
Priced from $105 through authorised distributors, the STEVAL-MKI109D targets engineering teams working on next-generation embedded systems.
The semiconductor major said that accompanying ST MEMS Studio software remains available as a free download with automatic update functionality.
