Codified raises $4 million in seed funding for AI-driven data governance platform

The funding will be used to grow Codified's team, accelerate product development, and prepare for a market launch with a product preview expected for select customers in 2024, said the startup.

Codified, a startup leveraging for data governance, announced a seed funding round of $4 million. Incubated at Madrona Venture Labs, Codified was founded by Yatharth Gupta.

The round was co-led by Madrona Ventures and Vine Ventures, with additional contributions from Soma Capital and angel investors including Bob Muglia, JG Chriapurath, and Shireesh Thota. Databricks’ founder and CEO Ali Ghodsi, along with Arnab Bose, Chief Product Officer at ‘s Workforce Identity Cloud, have joined Codified’s Advisory Board.

In response to the increasing reliance on business data for insights and the growing concerns over data security and privacy, Codified said it aims to streamline the often manual and costly processes of data governance.

The company’s -powered platform is designed to allow companies to author and implement data governance policies using natural language, ensuring data access aligns with business intent and reducing manual intervention.

“Customers are spending months implementing data governance solutions, and this needs to change. With Codified, customers will be able to save time and money while significantly improving their security posture,” said Yatharth Gupta.

Codified’s platform offers full visibility into data access rights and is built with the aim of providing just-in-time access and protection in line with company policies.

S. Somasegar, Managin Director, Madrona said, “Generative AI has opened the door for people to deal with policies using natural language, which is at the core of Codified’s approach to solve this problem.”
