In January 2022, an independent survey involving over 1,000 IT leaders from various global regions revealed significant insights into the impact of ransomware. Participants, who had each experienced at least one in 2021, reported an average 47% of their data encrypted by ransomware.

Veeam’s first large-scale ransomware market study aimed to understand the threat’s organizational scope, operational and impact, and the adoption of countermeasures. The study revealed that, regardless of size, all organizations faced persistent ransomware threats, as pervasive as traditional disasters like fire or flood.
