Dhaka — Bangladesh’s port city Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and leading digital service provider Robi Axiata has taken a plan to work together to make Chittagong a smart city. On this occasion, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Chasik and Robi on Tuesday.
Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, CEO of Chattoram city corporation, and Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director, and CEO of Robi, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations in the conference room of the temporary office at Tiger Pass in the city.
The City Corporation Mayor was the chief guest at the signing ceremony. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, said: there is no alternative to transform Chittagong city into a smart city in line with global technological progress.
He said there are plans to set up digital surveillance systems, smart streetlights, noise reduction, smart parking facilities, Robi shuttle service for students, and digital displays for citizen safety.
He besought other telecom companies like Robi to come forward in the same manner.
They may or further said that besides the mentioned facilities, necessary steps have been taken so that the citizens can pay their taxes at home through automation.
At the signing ceremony, city corporation Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Chief Revenue Officer Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Mayor’s Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem, Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Supervising Engineer Jhulan Kumar Das, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer of Robi Axiata Limited Shahed Alam.
Adil Hossain Nobel, Vice President of Corporate Business. Fahmidul Hasan and Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, General Manager, Chattogram Enterprise Business, and other officials were present.
