Dhaka — A young man named Hridoy Khan has been arrested in a case of spreading a private of a female officer by creating a group on the social media platform WhatsApp. Khan, 25, was arrested in a raid in the Fatullah area of Sadar Upazila on Friday morning, police said. He was remanded for one day by a local court in the afternoon.

The woman constable filed a case against Hridoy under the Digital Security Act at Fatullah Model Police Station on Thursday night. Superintendent of Police said that the accused who was arrested in the case would be remanded for quizzing.

According to the case statement, the woman police officer is a resident of the Chanmari area of Narayanganj. She is currently posted as a constable in Cox’s Bazar District Police Lines. She is a relative of the arrested person and was in a relationship with him.

However, the relationship seemed to have soared. The woman officer used to communicate with Khan and he had promised to marry her, said the case notings.

In addition to conversations between them, various ‘secret videos’ were exchanged that were saved on her mobile . Hridoy began to take control of her Gmail when the tug of war began.

According to the complaint, then from there, he collected all the numbers of mobile phone and Facebook information. Later, he opened a group on WhatsApp with the mobile numbers of various policemen and spread ‘secret videos’.

District Detective Police Inspector Fakhruddin Bhuiyan said police launched the operation immediately after the case. The accused Khan was arrested from the signboard area of Fatullah on Friday morning. Police have asked for seven days remand but the court allowed only one day.
