Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur on January 2 at 11 am via video conferencing, said a statement from PMO.
Currently, the institute is functioning from a temporary campus at the Jyoti Vihar, Burla in Sambalpur, about 300 KM from state capital Bhubaneswar. The campus is surrounded by a large number of big companies including MCL, HINDALCO, Vedanta, TATA'S, NTPC and L&T, among others.
IIM Sambalpur claimed to be the first IIM to implement the idea of a flipped classroom where the basic concepts are learnt in digital mode and experiential learning takes place in the class, through live projects from the industry.
The institute also says that it outscored all other IIMs in terms of highest gender diversity with 49% girl students in MBA (2019-21) batch and 43% in MBA (2020-22) batch.
Governor and Chief Minister of Odisha, along with Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank', Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries will also be present during the foundation laying ceremony.
The release said that the ceremony will be virtually attended by over 5000 invitees including officials, industry leaders, academicians and students, alumni & faculty of IIM Sambalpur.
