PUC exam 2018 begins: Free bus rides to preventive custody of PUC paper leak accused, Karnataka taking no chance in election year

The second year pre-university final examinations is being held from March 1 to 17. The II PUC 2018 which begins today with and Physics is equivalent to Class 12th examination. As per PUC time-table, the exam is being held from 10.15 am to 1.30 pm. Over 6.90 lakh candidates across the Karnataka is expected to appear for the II PU exams. With Assembly Election expected to be held in May this year and paper leak cases of last year, the state government does not want to take any risk. Proper arrangements have been done to ensure peaceful and transparent way of conducting II .

According to Star of Mysore, CCTV cameras have been installed at all 1,004 examination centres in the state and activities related exams are being monitored to avoid any malpractice. CCTV cameras have also been installed at district and taluk treasuries where question papers are kept. According to local newspapers, the cameras at the treasuries have been linked to the mobile numbers of the PUE Department Director and Deputy Commissioner of the district concerned. In case of any threat or emergency, the DDPUE and DC will get alerts. Also, the vehicles carrying question papers to exam centres have been fitted with GPS to track the movement.

Learning from last year cases of paper leak, department of pre-university which is nodal government organisation to conduct PUC exam 2018 has sought preventive custody of all those who were involved in question paper leak cases during previous examinations. Currently, most of them are out on bail. According to NIE, the department made the request to Police this week. On cautionary basis, department has advised student to report cases paper leaks or rumours to Joint Director of PUE department on 9741939892. For any clarification, they can call helpline 080-23083900 from 8am to 8pm.

Apart from tightening of the security, there is good news for the students who are appearing for II PUC exam 2018, Karnataka government is allowing them to travel from their home to examination centres and back to home freely in KSRTC Vegdoot buses. The students will need to show their hall tickets during the journey.
