Microsoft has expanded its AI-powered offerings with the launch of the Copilot app for Apple iOS and iPadOS users. This launch follows the introduction of the app on the Android platform.
The Copilot app, now available for download on the Apple App Store, integrates advanced AI features, including capabilities powered by OpenAI‘s GPT-4 model and DALL-E 3 image generation technology, said a statement.
The new Copilot app, which marks a continuation of Microsoft‘s foray into AI-powered applications, is designed to offer a range of functionalities to iOS users. These include the ability to draft emails, summarise texts, and generate images from text descriptions.
The integration with DALL-E 3, in particular, allows users to create unique visual content, enhancing the app’s creative potential.
One of the key features of the Copilot app is its access to GPT-4, the latest large language model from OpenAI, without the need for a subscription.
This makes advanced AI capabilities more accessible to a broader audience, potentially democratising the use of such technologies, said the company.

Microsoft has rebranded its AI-powered chat tool, formerly known as Bing Chat, to “Copilot,” aligning with its broader strategy to enhance and expand its AI capabilities. This renaming is part of a larger effort to differentiate the advanced AI-powered app from its previous iteration and to present a refreshed identity to users.
Copilot maintains its presence on the web and even has its dedicated website, distinct from Bing. This dedicated platform reflects Microsoft’s commitment to developing standalone, AI tools that cater to various user needs.
