SMFG India Credit elevates Swaminathan Subramanian to Chief Operating Officer

SMFG India Credit (formerly Fullerton India Credit) has appointed Swaminathan Subramanian, also known as Swami, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

SMFG India Credit (formerly Fullerton India Credit) has appointed Swaminathan Subramanian, also known as Swami, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Prior to this appointment, Swami served as the company’s Chief People Officer (CPO).

As the new COO, Swami will oversee operations, technology, legal, enterprise services, human resources, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He has been integral to the company’s transformation agenda, demonstrating business acumen and delivering strategic results, said a statement.

SMFG India Credit & MD, Shantanu Mitra, and Chairman, Noboyuki Kawabata, expressed their confidence in Swami’s capabilities. They anticipate his leadership will be instrumental in advancing the company’s digital transformation, legal initiatives, operational efficiency, and infrastructure development.

“As he transitions from his current role as CPO to COO, I am confident that his deep insights and strategic thinking will continue to further drive SMFG India Credit forward,” said Kawabata.

Swami has a global work experience of over 25 years, spanning geographies like Africa, Asia, Middle East, and India. He held the role of Group Chief Human Resources Officer () for India and Brazil at Sterlite Power before rejoining SMFG India Credit in May 2021. His career includes stints at Reliance Capital, JP Morgan, Barclays, Standard Chartered Bank, and Accenture.

Swami is an graduate from Jadavpur University and earned his from XLRI Jamshedpur.
