WhatsApp unveils new voice feature for desktop users

With the new update, WhatsApp Desktop beta users will be able to play voice notes in the background.

Bringing new innovations to the fore, the global social messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced the global voice note player to the users of WhatsApp on the Desktop. The new feature is available in desktop beta 2.2204.5 update. This allows users to listen to voice notes even after switching to a different chat.

At present, voice notes on WhatsApp do not offer background player support and stop playing when a user leaves the chat. With the new update, WhatsApp Desktop beta users will be able to play voice notes in the background.

According to the major, when a user receives a voice note from one user and switches to chat with another user, the voice note will not stop and it will continue playing.

Also, these users will see a progress bar at the bottom of the screen, as spotted by WaBetaInfo. The progress bar indicator will help one understand when the voice note ends.

The feature, as of now, is available for beta testers of WhatsApp desktop. It is yet not known when the feature will be released for WhatsApp users on and Android.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has added another new feature to its web version which will enable users to ask the company about their account information and settings. Called Request Account Info, the feature will allow users to ask WhatsApp for a of their account information and settings.

The feature till now was available for Android and iOS users and has been expanded to WhatsApp Web. Using the feature users can submit a request to WhatsApp and export a report that consists of their account activity information, privacy settings and information about the devices which are used to access the instant-messaging app.
