Topping up 11 with the first update after its official launch last week, announced to prepone its first update. Usually, the company releases updates for all its products on the second Tuesday every month and that includes Windows 11 too.

It is the first update received by the new OS as it has been a month since Windows 11 build 22000.194 was released for the Beta users and later it arrived in the Release Preview channel.

This is also the first update that the production, Beta, and Release Preview users of Windows 11 have received at the same time. The KB5006674 update brings the OS build number to 22000.258. To check if you have received the update, go to Settings > Windows Update. If you want to install the update manually you can download it from Microsoft Update Catalog.

The bug fixes mentioned in the update are relatively short and it is expected that there are few other fixes as well that aren't mentioned in the changelog.

“Addresses were known compatibility issues between some Intel “Killer” and “SmartByte” networking software and Windows 11 (original release). Devices with the affected software might drop User Datagram Protocol () packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other issues for protocols based on UDP.

For example, some websites might load slower than others on the affected devices, which might cause videos to stream slower in certain resolutions. VPN solutions based on UDP might also be slower.” a Windows 11 update changelog stated.

Earlier Windows 11 users have reported several bugs since the official launch and few of them were discovered during the testing phase only. It is not yet clear whether the update fixes the bugs apart from the changelog or not. The new OS is built on the same foundation as Windows 10 and it is designed to work on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen devices. The OS adds a refreshed look and more apps to your devices.
