Dhaka — In Bangladesh’s southern Khulna region, a unique cybernetic initiative taken by the district the administration is playing an imperative role in tackling Covid-19.
The district is keeping pace with the rest of the country by taking preventive initiatives based on information and communication technology (ICT).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Helal Hossain told: “Ongoing core activities of the district administration have been conducted on the basis of these four dimensions of management, monitoring, coordination and innovation in the coronavirus crisis, which has been appreciated across the country.
He said: “innovative initiatives based on various digital apps and software are ensuring maximum use of information and communication technology in the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic. According to him, in the last 11 months, these cybernetic applications have been helping to deal with the outbreak of corona.”
These digital apps and software are – ‘Emergency Medical Services Khulna’ (Health Management), ‘Private Humanitarian Assistance Cell’ (Relief Distribution), ‘Door to Door Khulna (D2DK)’ and Agricultural Products, Poultry and Dairy Management Based digital apps ‘Raw Market at the Head of the Hat’, ‘Digital Sundarbans Protein House’, and ‘Agriculture Market at Home’.
There is also ‘Farmer’s Smile’ and ‘Digital Rice Procurement’, a digital app for collecting rice from farmers. ‘Digital Primary Education, Khulna’ and Digital Secondary Education Khulna’, interactive online teaching platform based on YouTube channel and two Facebook pages.
There is also a website and mobile app ‘Online Medicine Mart Khulna’ and ‘Online Qurbani Hat Khulna’.
He said: “The district administration, in collaboration with Khulna Children’s Hospital, launched the ‘Emergency Medical Services Khulna’ app to deliver emergency medical services from house to house in the wake of the Corona crisis.”
A ‘Private Humanitarian Aid Cell’ has been set up to deliver food aid to the doorsteps of the poor and, in addition, a door-to-door Khulna (D2DK) app has been launched to help confidentiality seekers.
Three Digital Apps – ‘Raw Market at the Head of Market,’ Sundarbans Protein House ‘and’ Agriculture Market at Home ‘have been launched.
He said the ‘Digital Rice The procurement’s app has been launched for the first time in Bangladesh with the aim of coordinating transparent and easy financial transactions with the government’s rice procurement activities. Through this, rice is being procured from suitable millers subject to the terms of the contract in a transparent manner in a corruption-free environment for financial transactions.
He said an online education system has been launched for students as educational institutions have been shut down amid a lockdown caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic in response to growing demand.
The district administration also launched a digital cattle market mobile app for buying and selling sacrificial animals last Eid-ul-Azha, keeping in mind the health protection of farmers and buyers due to the Corona epidemic.
