Bangladesh: RAB-8 arrests 3 members of MFS fraud ring in Faridpur

A team of RAB-8 (Rapid Action Battalion-8) has arrested three youths on allegation of deceiving common peoples through mobile financial services in Faridpur.

Dhaka — A team of -8 (Rapid Action Battalion-8) has arrested three youths on allegation of deceiving common peoples through mobile financial services in Faridpur. They were arrested from Chatlarpar village of Kalamridha union in on Friday night. Nine mobile phones and 10 SIM cards were seized from them.

The arrested three youth are — Md. Khalil Sheikh (21) of Chatlarpar village, Shawkat Matubbar (22) of Matbarkandi village and Md. Maruf Hawladar (20) from Magra village. The complainant alleged that they were involved in stealing money from the people’s Bkash accounts on the pretext of the investment scheme.

Major Mohammad Abdur Rahman, company commander of RAB-8 Faridpur camp, said there were reports of money laundering through the development of some fraudsters in Chatlarpar village of Bhanga Upazila.

“After finding out the truth of the incident, three youths were arrested in a raid in the village on Friday night. During the preliminary interrogation, they confessed to embezzling money through development fraud,” RAB-8 said.

RAB-8’s squad captain Additional Superintendent of , Khorshed Alam said that RAB is preparing to file a case under the Act as a plaintiff.
