Bangladesh: In one month, internet users increased by 3.4 million

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has said that the number of internet users in the country has increased by 34 lakh 25 thousand in the month of March 2021

Dhaka — The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory () has said that the number of internet users in the country has increased by 34 lakh 25 thousand in the month of March 2021.

According to the , cellphone users have also increased at a significant rate during this period. At the same time, the use of mobile phone connections or SIM has also increased.

This was claimed in a March report recently published on the BTRC website.

According to their report, at the end of March this year, the total number of Internet users in the country stood at 11 crores 61 lakh 40 thousand. In February, the number was 11 crore 27 lakh 15 thousand.

The number of internet users have increased by 24 lakhs 25 thousand in one month. Of the total users, 10 crores 63 lakh 30 thousand are mobile internet users.

On the other hand, the number of (ISP and PSTN) internet subscribers has also increased. The number of broadband subscribers is 98 lakh 10 thousand. At the end of February which was 95 lakh 22 thousand.

The BTRC says that at the end of March, the number of mobile phone connections in the country stood at 17 crores 46 lakh 30 thousand. In February, which was 17 crore 33 lakh 57 thousand. This number has increased to 12 lakh 73 thousand in one month.

The report further mentions that Grameenphone is at the top in terms of mobile phone connectivity. Their connection number is 8 crore 75 lakh. Robi has 5 crores 19 lakh 40 thousand connections. Which is second place.

On the other hand, Banglalink is in third place. The number of their connections is 3 crore 62 lakh 50 thousand. And the number of Teletalk connections is 56 lakh 57 thousand. It is a state-owned mobile phone operator. Which caused a stir in the country. But day by day its subscribers are decreasing.
