As mobile devices proliferate and demand data continues to transform businesses, network connectivity becomes ever more critical. According to Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI), India's Internet user base will touch 829 million—59% penetration—by 2021, with data usage on the Internet expected to grow 4X times at a CAGR of 30% to 6.5 exabytes per month.

The report also predicts India to boast 2.0 billion networked devices in 2021, from 1.4 billion networked devices in 2016, representing big opportunities in the rural telecom market.

We can only imagine what networks are up against with this massive ‘Data Tsunami' that will unleash if it has not already.

Over the years, service providers have had to navigate a number of transitions – for example, a new generation of wireless capabilities has rolled out approximately every decade: 4G arrived in 2012, 3G in 2001, 2G in 1992, and the first generation in 1981.

Today service providers are looking to build new business models, new markets to address and value to extract from their networks. They are looking to monetize information, not connectivity, and enable businesses, not just communications. Telcos need to capitalize on their core competence and look for new ways to increase the return on investment in their network infrastructure

At the India Mobile Congress 2018, Cisco is excited to showcase some of our new technologies and solution capabilities, which are all about building a transformative architecture and strategy that make it easy to simplify, automate and virtualize today's dynamic workflows.

If you're going to India Mobile Congress, be sure to watch our sessions over the three days, and stop by to see us at the Cisco booth at B1.2A to learn about our industry-leading innovations in 5G, , IoT and Networking.

I look forward to seeing you at India Mobile Congress!
