VMware has acquired CloudCoreo, a Seattle-based configuration-management startup for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition will help VMware customers get a better understanding of their risks in the cloud. “Today, I'm thrilled to announce our acquisition of CloudCoreo continuing on our commitment to secure and manage applications in a multi-cloud world. I want to officially welcome the CloudCoreo team to VMware,” said Milin Desai, General Manager, Cloud Services, VMware.
CloudCoreo offers solution that proactively identifying public cloud risks at the time of deployment to prevent breaches of compliance violations before they occur. The solution also continuously scans and monitors cloud infrastructure to keep applications and data safe. CloudCoreo will help VMware customers running hybrid cloud strategies better understand how their applications and data are potentially vulnerable across multiple cloud environments.
CloudCoreo has a small team of less than ten employee. They all will join VMware's Cloud Services unit and CloudCoreo's flagship configuration-management product will get folded into that group.

CloudCoreo was founded almost two years ago, it raised a $2.9 million seed fund led by Madrona Venture Group in October 2016.

It was just 20 months ago (July 2016) that we began our journey to build a next-generation cloud security service designed to find and fix misconfigurations and vulnerabilities across public cloud providers,” said CloudCoreo.
