MWC Barcelona has entered into a collaboration with , leveraging automation and cloud-native technology to enhance the development, delivery, and innovation of services. Through this partnership, stc Group aims to reduce ownership costs and launch new edge and 5G services for the enterprise market, said a statement.

stc Group, offering digital infrastructure and services across , is transitioning to a cloud-native infrastructure. This transformation is supported by Cisco's system integration and features Red Hat OpenShift.

The partnership enables stc to deploy multiple cloud-native network functions (CNFs) from various vendors automatically. It marks a significant step in stc's digital transition, enhancing its cloud capabilities to support a variety of applications and virtualized network functions, said the company.

stc's new telco cloud facilitates the implementation and delivery of CNFs and cloud-native applications, such as 5G core components or edge computing services, within a complete ETSI-compliant framework. This advancement allows stc to meet both internal and business-to-business (B2B) requirements more efficiently and enables effective disaster recovery strategies.

Red Hat said its OpenShift aids stc in maintaining consistency and repeatability in application management across any underlying environment, focusing on innovation rather than infrastructure.

stc has deployed cloud-native methodologies, including DevOps-driven automation, to streamline service delivery. Red Hat OpenShift's features, such as CI/CD pipelines and multicluster management, along with its certified interoperability with a wide range of CNFs, provide stc with a vendor-neutral foundation for delivering tailored solutions.

Chris Wright, chief technology officer and senior vice president of Global Engineering at Red Hat, said, “The agility and dynamism that stc needs as a business is made possible with more responsive, scalable infrastructure based on cloud-native approaches and technologies.”

“stc is taking advantage of Red Hat's unified hybrid cloud application platform and ecosystem integration to gain flexibility and freedom of choice as it builds out its next generation network and services. Red Hat is pleased to support stc in its drive to deliver new revenue streams, automated operations and an open vendor ecosystem,” Wright added.
