Days ahead of Mobile World Congress 2019, Barcelona, Network software service provider said it has signed an agreement with in which the latter will use its OcNOS networking operating system to enhance its IP-based white box offerings targeting a broad range of transport applications, including packet-optimized Data Center Interconnect (DCI).

“OcNOS will enable us to bring value-add capabilities for additional applications such as packet DCI and edge gateways,” said Mikko Hannula, Vice President, Product Management, Infinera.

IP Infusion said that new initiatives such as the (TIP) and ONF's CORD reference designs are looking to disaggregated open infrastructures that offer choice, innovation and cost efficiencies. IP Infusion supports such gateways on open white box switches that leverage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) silicon.

OcNOS for service providers complements Infinera's broader solutions for telco and network service providers in building next-generation network infrastructure that will enable not just phones and tablets to connect to the mobile network, but new emerging IoT technologies for utilities, autonomous cars, augmented reality, smart cities and factories, said Infinera.

“Combined with Infinera's global reach in support and services, our OcNOS solution provides the tools to ensure seamless transition from traditional to open networks with investment protection, while enabling our customers to rapidly deploy new networking features optimized for agile, high-performance interconnect applications,” said Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO of IP Infusion.
