Union Budget shows commitment to a sustainable, inclusive tech-driven economy, says SAP Labs India MD Sindhu Gangadharan

Union Budget 2023 is a clear indication of the India's focus on building a technology-driven economy that is both sustainable and inclusive, said Sindhu Gangadharan, SVP & MD, SAP Labs India and Head of SAP User Enablement.

Union presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is a clear indication of the India's focus on building a technology-driven economy that is both sustainable and inclusive, said , SVP & MD, Labs India and Head of SAP User Enablement.

“The Union Budget 2023-24 is a testament to India's unwavering focus on building a technology-driven economy that is both sustainable and inclusive,” said Gangadharan.

The budget's emphasis on job creation and youth upliftment is reflected in the proposed Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4, which aims to upskill lakhs of young people in new-age courses such as 3D printing and drone technologies. To support this initiative, the establishment of 30 Skill India International Centres across states will be crucial in developing and nurturing the country's digital talent pool.

Gangadharan also said the launch of the National Data Governance Policy and three Centres of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence as initiatives that will help to further establish India's position as a global innovation hub. The launch of 5G labs is expected to create new opportunities through the rapid and efficient expansion of the network.

In terms of sustainability, the strong push towards green growth, which includes provisions to accelerate the adoption of green fuel, energy, and mobility, will not only help India reach its net-zero target but also create new green job opportunities, said SAP Labs India head.

Many industry leaders from tech sector have termed Union Budget to be having immense promise for technology development and skilling, and a testament to the country's focus on building a sustainable and inclusive technology-driven economy.

“The proposed initiatives, such as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4 and the launch of the National Data Governance Policy and Centres of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence, are expected to help India maintain its position as a global innovation hub,” said Gangadharan.
