Ericsson Studios India to focus on 5G, smart cities, and IoT

Named as Ericsson Studios, the centre will house innovations in mobile technologies and futuristic use-cases on 5G and IoT

Swedish gear maker has set up an experience centre at its Gurgaon headquarter. Named as Ericsson Studios India, the centre will house innovations in mobile technologies and futuristic use-cases on and IoT. Visitors at the Experience Studio would be able to interact with Ericsson experts, said the company.

The Ericsson Studio was inaugurated on site by telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan and Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to India. The centre would focus on areas such as 5G connected drones, connected urban transport, Internet of skills and mixed reality mining.

“With the pace at which technology is evolving, initiatives like these provide for discussions and understanding of new technologies and their application in the real world,” said Sundararajan.

Ericsson recently also set up a 5G Center of Excellence and Innovation Lab at IIT Delhi. The initiative is designed to fast-track 5G deployments in the country by bringing together telecom ecosystems, academia, industry and start-ups

“As in the case of the 5G Center of Excellence and Innovation Hub, we are looking at the Ericsson Studio in Gurugram becoming the hub for innovation and discussion on futuristic mobile technologies,” said Nitin Bansal, Head of Network Solutions MOAI, Ericsson.
