German communication enterprise Kathrein opens new centre in Bengaluru

According to company official, this is part of a strategy to strengthen company's presence in India and the Asia-Pacific region. “The location in Bengaluru is very important for our future growth in the significant APAC region,” said , CEO of the .

At the new premises, company will showcase its technology and full range of solutions and services. It will also focus on 5G and autonomous driving and other new trends in the industry.

“The regional centre in Bengaluru will offer expert support to customers on topics such as Industry 4.0 and vehicle connectivity, as well as the Internet of Things, building digitalisation and smart cities,” said Ashwini Bakshi, who heads Kathrein's regional business from Singapore.

The new official has about 300 square metres of space including a showroom for technology demos and training courses, and a test and diagnostic lab. Company said that it has given special focus to development of software for regional solutions and customer requirements.

German based Kathrein deals in communication technologies including mobile communication, RFID solutions, satellite reception, broadband and broadcast technology, transmission and reception systems in vehicles. It is a family-owned enterprise considered to be one of the world's oldest and largest antenna manufacturer.

As on December 2016, the Kathrein Group has a staff of around 7,900 and it is valued around $2 billion.
