Defence Minister unveiled a Web-Based Project Monitoring Portal (WBPMP) for (MES). The platform will enable real-time tracking of projects from start to finish.

According to a statement from the Defence Ministry, the portal was established by Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics in compliance with the Union Government's Mission (BISAG-G).

Digital India is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The Digital India vision provides the intensified impetus for further momentum and progress for e-Governance and aims to promote inclusive growth that covers electronic services, products, devices, manufacturing and job opportunities.

The newly launched unified site is the MES's first foray into project management e-Governance. It will enable real-time tracking of projects from start to finish. Access to project information is available to all stakeholders, not just MES users. This is one of a number of steps taken by MES to ensure the organization's scientific management.

Over the past few years, the Ministry of Defence has accelerated its focus on digital transformation. Several organisations of its organisations have adopted digital. Directorate General Quality Assurance (DGQA) started online Pre-Delivery inspection in May 2020 to address security threats, while Armed Forces Tribunal began digital hearing for the first time in August 2020.

The Defence Estates, Canteen Stores Department, services in Cantonment, MoD Pension and National Cadet Corps (NCC) have also gone online providing faster and transparent services.
