The Union government has moved the apex court seeking transfer of all petitions challenging the constitutionality of the new Information Technology (IT) Rules, 2021, from various high courts to the top court.

In a transfer petition filed by the Union government, the Centre has asked the Supreme Court to direct several High Courts including Delhi, Bombay, Madras and Kerala, not to make any observation on the new IT rules and instead seize the issue.
