Next time you log on to you may be up to some serious trouble. The top global internet browser with millions of users can be at higher risk from online attackers who can successfully exploit vulnerabilities in the Chrome versions prior to 98.0.4758.80.

The Union ministry of electronics and information technology's Indian Computer Emergency Response Team () has already issued a warning for all Google Chrome users while categorising the severity rating as ‘High'.

The CERT-IN has noted that “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.”

According to top experts, if an attacker successfully exploited these vulnerabilities then it could be dangerous for Chrome users. CERT-IN further explained that “these vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Use after free in Safe Browsing, Reader Mode, Web Search, Thumbnail Tab Strip, Screen Capture, Window Dialog, Payments, Extensions, Accessibility and Cast; Heap buffer overflow in ANGLE; Inappropriate implementation in Full Screen Mode, Scroll, Extensions Platform and Pointer Lock; Type Confusion in V8;Policy bypass in COOP and Out of bounds memory access in V8.”

Meanwhile, Google has already rolled out an update that fixes this issue. Google said that the update fixes 27 security issues. The tech giant noted that “Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven't yet fixed.”

The company in an advisory to its customers said that Chrome users download the latest version of Google. “Chrome 98.0.4758.80/81/82 for Windows and 98.0.4758.80 for mac and Linux contains a number of fixes and improvements,” Google said.

The update has been rolled out and will reach users in the coming days, Google said on February 1.
