In expansion mode, video conference software firm Video Communications has announced to set up its second technology centre in .

The new Chennai product centre is part of Zoom's expansion plans in India and will supplement the existing tech centre in Bangalore. It will be led by Zoom's global engineering team based at the company's San Jose, California headquarters and will closely work with them.

Zoom already has two data centres in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Zoom's Bengaluru centre and its technology centre in Singapore were both launched in 2020. The company has however not confirmed the amount of investment and capacity of the Chennai facility and said it is still finalising the specifics.

The new Chennai centre is being planned to focus on research and development of new products including Zoom Contact Centre and cutting-edge technologies to build a communications platform that will mimic real-life immersive experiences for users. Zoom recently announced the launch of a contact centre — call centre —software that helps manage all aspects of customer service into a single easy to use the tool.

“We are excited to launch the second technology centre and tap into India's top-notch talent which will help us deliver a best-in-class communications experience for our customers as we move to a hybrid world of business,” Sameer Raje, general manager & head of India and SAARC Region at Zoom, said.
