French technology firm has appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Atos Group, effective October 3, 2023. Bernaert marks the third CEO appointment in less than two years, underscoring a period of executive leadership struggle and transitions for the company.

Bernaert takes the helm at a time, immediately following the internal operational separation of Atos into two distinct entities. One of his top priorities is likely to be driving the next stages of the Group's transformation plan and propelling the turnaround of its activities.

Should the Group's final separation occur, Bernaert will be at the forefront of leading the new Eviden group, aiming to establish its stature in digital transformation globally.

The company also said that along with Paul Saleh, Group CFO, Bernaert is tasked with the ongoing negotiations with EPEI, a step anticipated to be presented at the shareholders' meeting.

With a career spanning over three decades in the technology sector, Bernaert brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Atos. He started his professional journey as an auditor at PwC, before moving to in 1992.

During his tenure at Accenture, he served in various executive roles and recently as CEO Europe for Accenture Technology, where he led the company to achieve double-digit growth focusing on new digital technologies, said the company.

As part of the leadership shakeup, Atos also said that Nourdine Bihmane has transitioned from his position as co-CEO of the group to become the deputy CEO. Bihmane will continue to oversee the Tech Foundations business.

Meanwhile, Philippe Oliva, who joined Atos in June 2022 serving as the deputy CEO responsible for the Digital/BDS perimeter and contributed to the formation of the newly branded SpinCo (Evidian), has chosen to leave the company.
