Airtel Payments Bank onboards cybersecurity expert Manish Pandey as new CISO

Cyber security expert Manish Pandey, who until recently served as Assistant General Manager-Cyber and Information Security at Paytm Payments Bank will take on the new role of Cyber and Information Security Officer (CISO) at .

According to Airtel Payments Bank, Pandey in his new role will be spearheading the information and cybersecurity practice at Airtel Payments Bank and will be reporting to the company's Chief Risk Officer, Pradeep Rangi.

“Pandey will be responsible for introducing, implementing, and maintaining safe information security practices to strengthen the security framework for the bank,” Airtel Payments Bank said in a statement.

Pandey will also lead the regulatory engagement, governance, and audit matters pertaining to information security at the bank. IIT-Allahabad alumni, Pandey accrued close to 4.5 years of experience leading digital banking and fintech cybersecurity at Paytm Payments Bank.

He joined the company in January 2018 as Manager-Information and Cybersecurity. In three years, he was promoted to the position of Asst. GM-Cyber and Information Security.

Prior to his stint in the fintech space, Pandey was an active team member for the cybersecurity drill conducted by CERT-In for critical government organizations. He also played a key role in the preparation and review of IT security auditing guidelines for auditee organizations in India. In addition to this, Pandey was an active member of the Indo-US cybersecurity drill conducted by CERT-In and CERT-US.

In his 12- year-plus tenure, Pandey gained experience across different sectors with expertise in IT and cybersecurity, cyberlaw, and data protection. He brings with him years of expertise in not just the enterprise security and governance space, but in academia as well. Pandey began his career as a lecturer at Bareilly-based Invertis University.
