NALCO to invest Rs 30,000 cr on expansion by 2027-28: Union Minister Joshi

Union Minister for Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi has said that National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) will invest around Rs 30,000 crores by the financial year 2027-28 on the company’s expansion and diversification plans. Addressing the 41st Foundation Day of NALCO yesterday at the company’s headquarters in Bhubaneswar, he said that out of this proposed investment, the company will spend over Rs 7,000 crores on the 5th stream refinery, Pottangi bauxite mines, bauxite transportation system from the south block and Utkal D and E coal mines. BEL signs contract with Indian Navy for indigenously developed Laser Dazzlers

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a contract with the Indian Navy for initially supplying 20 Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation Dazzlers (Laser Dazzlers). The Laser Dazzler is used as a non-lethal method for warning and stopping suspicious vehicles/boats/aircraft/UAVs/pirates, etc. from approaching secured areas during both day and night. It is capable of dazzling and thereby suppresses the person’s/optical sensor’s action with disability glare in case of non-compliance to orders. It disorients/confuses and makes a person blind temporarily. It also dazzles and distracts aircraft/UAVs. It is portable, shoulder-operated and ruggedised for military use in adverse environmental conditions. Laser dazzler technology was developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, this unique product is indigenously designed and developed for the first time for the Armed Forces. In order to broaden its customer base and maintain a steady bottomline, Coal India favours twisting its e-auction policy, according to an official. The notion to put all e-auction coal in one bucket will help in realising a higher off-take, PTI quoted the official. "When pithead coal stock is nearly 70 million tonne and we have a surplus situation, the idea of putting all e- auction coal in single bucket will help expand the base of customers. This will result in a higher offtake," suggested the official. Earlier, the government had given an indication that some reform measures could be opted regarding the marketing of the fuel. RailTel plans IPO for Rs 700 crore early next year

Public sector player RailTel is lining up a Rs 700 crore initial public offer (IPO) early next year, valuing the company at around Rs 3,000 crore.
