STPI signs 4 MoUs during ‘MeitY Startup Summit 2019’ to strengthen startup ecosystem

To create a robust startup ecosystem in the country, () has signed four Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) during the Startup Summit 2019.

The MoUs includes a partnership with Intel India, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, Pontaq and IBM in the field of ICT and emerging technologies.

According to a note, these MoUs will bring collaboration on knowledge exchange and enhancing cooperation between technological institutions, venture capitalists, industries and government agencies.

“The MoUs are meant for promoting entrepreneurship and create a nurturing ecosystem for STPI CoEs in areas such as digital and mobile payments, blockchain, IoT, big data, and other emerging technologies,” said STPI in a statement.

The central government supported organisation is looking to set up as many as 28 domain-specific Centres of Excellence (CoE) in emerging technologies.

According to a senior official, to push the enrolment process, an online technology platform will soon be launched. Currently, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) is assisting in calling application, screening, onboarding and reviewing startups applications.

The STPI CoEs are spread across various states including IoT OpenLab in Bengaluru, ESDM Incubation Centre in Bhubaneshwar, Autonomous Connected Electric Shared Vehicles CoE in Pune, MedTech & Health Informatics CoE in Lucknow, Rural & Agri IoT CoE in Guwahati, BlockChain CoE in Gurugram, and IoT in Agri CoE in Patna-Motihari.
