Data analytics firm Qlik said that Hitachi has integrated Qlik analytics services into its Omika Works division. The adoption of this tool enables the division to analyze data for risk assessment and decision-making.
Omika Works focuses on information and control systems for public infrastructure and industrial fields. The division faces various challenges including diverse requirements from utility companies and high demand for parts, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this, the company managed large volumes of data points in Excel, revealing inefficiencies in their supply chain management.
Atsumi Furukawa, General Manager, Omika Works' Connective Industries Division, said that Qlik analytics have aided in visualizing information. The tool has become part of the division's approach to data management within its supply chain.
Fast access to accurate data
“Most important to us is to have fast access to accurate data. Qlik has enabled us to visualize information, which ensures decision making is easier. Qlik is the solution to our supply chain data needs,” said Furukawa.
The analytics service in use was developed by Hitachi Social Information Services (Hitachi SIS), another subsidiary within the Hitachi Group. The service works alongside Qlik analytics to make Excel-based tasks more efficient. It assists in unifying and analyzing data concerning the status of suppliers and provides visibility into supply chain processes.
Reduce time for supplier confirmations by 33%
Since incorporating Qlik analytics, departments within Hitachi Omika Works have reduced the time needed to confirm delivery dates with suppliers by up to 33%. The use of a unified source of information has streamlined operations and led to specific actionable insights. Plans are in place to expand the use of data for further analysis through techniques like data mining and text mining.
Hiroshi Imai, Country Manager, Qlik Japan, stated that the collaboration aims to address Hitachi's data analytics needs, offering support in risk analysis and aiding in decision-making.
