GovTech leaders must bolster business continuity plans to swiftly navigate during any pandemic: VMware

To bolster the government organizations in the times of pandemic, Tech Observer magazine in association with virtual infrastructure giant organized a special webinar focused on public sector organizations.

During an hour-long webinar, the technology expert and speaker emphasized the importance of ensuring business continuity, enabling remote working and providing enterprise-grade security in times of pandemic to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.

Speakers were of the views that current COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally appended every vertical including the public sector. Like enterprises, government organizations have also adopted work-from-home as a new normal. That is why replicating the full breadth of services remotely has been a singular priority for the government technology leaders.

IT heads of the public sector are tasked with to provide flawless compute, storage and networking experience with enterprise-grade security to the remote workforce who are accessing critical applications and data to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.

This is nothing short of a remote collaboration revolution as this is easier said than done. IT infrastructure is a host to applications and services and it is highly critical to the health of government services. An outage can have irreparable damage to critical data, applications and people trust.

Participating in the webinar as a keynote speaker, , CISO and GM (IT), Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) said that government technology leaders must have Business Continuity Plans in place to navigate in times of pandemic.

“A plan that can swiftly enable remote working, quickly provision virtual desktops and applications across on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and provide secure access to applications and data centers,” he said, adding that technology is helping society to recover from the current pandemic.

The webinar also witnessed the expert presentation from Santosh Kumar Mishra, System Engineer, VMware India. In his in-depth session, Mishra elaborated as to how the public sector can ensure service continuity even in times of emergency or any pandemic.

With his insightful presentation, he explained about various technologies needed to enable remote working, ensure access to the data center and applications and also how government organisations can take advantage of VMware's technology such as Workspace ONE, VDI with NSX, Carbon Black Cloud and VMware SD-WAN – for making their BCPs world-class.
