Israel, Germany reach agreement on energy cooperation

Israel and Germany have signed an agreement to cooperate in the energy sector, the two countries announced in a joint statement on Sunday.

It was signed by Israel's Energy Minister Karine Elharrar and Oliver Krischer, Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action's parliamentary state secretary, Xinhua reported.

The agreement was signed following a meeting on the margins of the International Energy Agency's annual ministerial meeting in Paris.

According to the statement, the partnership addresses shared interests in developing technologies that enable the provision of reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy, with an emphasis on expanding renewable energy and the use of new energy technologies.

The agreement establishes critical areas of future cooperation, including renewable energy, energy infrastructure cybersecurity, technological innovation, and collaboration in natural gas and hydrogen applications.
