After many back and forth finally central government employees is likely to get pay hike of 17%. This is more than what had recommended. The government has decided to settle on this amount and a mere formality now remains to get it passed before the National Anomaly Committee, said a government.

CG employees who have been waiting for good news can expect a 17 per cent raise in their basic minimum pay. If one calculates the hike percentage then it would mean that the basic pay would go up from Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000.

The hike of 17 per cent would also mean that the fitment factor would raised from 2.57 to 3 times. Officials who have been deliberating on this matter are convinced that the fitment factor would have to rise and the basic pay be hiked to Rs 21,000.

Officials would take these decisions quickly. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already agreed that the issue of pay hike should be considered. He had even ordered the setting up of an NAC to look into the anomalies rising out of the 7th Pay Commission. The proposal would be placed before him and it would be immediately sent to the NAC and then to the Department of Expenditure.

It is now very evident that the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission brought no cheer to the CG employees. It was a phase that led to immense frustration and hardship to both CG employees and pensioners. While there is good news coming in January 2018 regarding the pay hike, both pensioners and CG employees would however not get arrears.
