University of South Florida extends deadline for Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship 2018-19

The University of South Florida (USF) has extended the deadline for its prestigious Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship to April 30, 2018.

The (USF) has extended the deadline for its prestigious Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship to April 30, 2018. This award is offered to a student who has graduated from or is about to graduate from an Indian University and is seeking to pursue a Ph.D. degree in any of the following disciplines at USF: Applied Anthropology; Applied Physics; Business PhD programs; Cell Biology, Microbiology & Molecular Biology; Chemistry; Computer Science & Engineering; Engineering; Criminology; Integrative Biology; Marine Science; Psychology.

USF will waive all tuition fees and contribute a stipend of $18,000 per academic year for up to four years. Previous recipients of the award are Avijit Sengupta from IIT-Bombay and Veena Subramanian from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Speaking about the fellowship, Ms. Veena Subramanian said, “To receive a scholarship honoring Dr. Kalam was beyond my expectations. Achieving the Kalam fellowship has allowed me to channel my energy in its entirety towards research. I am currently pursuing my graduate thesis research and my work is focused on understanding the molecular basis of Bloom's syndrome, a human genetic disorder that is associated with extraordinary cancer predisposition and signs of premature aging”.
