The official notification for JE 2017 examination has been released. Now, all the candidates who wish to apply for Junior Engineer Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical posts under SSC JE 2017 can go to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) website to apply online. SSC JE 2017 examination will be an open competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment of Junior Engineers Group-B (Non-Gazetted) posts.

The online application process for SSC JE Application has started on October 21 and will continue till November 17, 2017. The examination will be conducted from January 5 to January 8, 2018

SSC JE 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Staff Selection Commission has fixed criteria on education qualification. A candidate has to fulfil it before applying for the SSC JE 2017. All the candidates who have the requisite qualifications can go to the website of SSC to fill the online application form. The educational qualification for SSC JE recruitment has two sub-categories, one for Civil Engineering and the other for Mechanical Engineering.

SSC JE Application Form 2017

To fill the online application form for SSC JE for part I candidates have to fill in all the common details such as name, mother's name, father's name, address, email address, mobile number, domicile, category etc. After completing the full online form of the SSC JE part I candidates have to click on submit button. In this way, they will get the registration number and password for the part II registration. In the next process applicants, have to input their application id and password to apply for part II registration. In part, second registration candidates have to submit educational qualifications and then they will have to upload scanned copies of passport size photographs and signatures at the specified size. There is some necessary information that candidates should have in their mind while filling the online application form. Mind all these points mentioned below before filling the SSC Junior Engineer online application form.

  • As a first step, the candidates are supposed to register online on the website and fill out the application form within the time period provided.
  • Only online applications are required to be submitted at the official website for SSC JE 2017 Recruitment process.
  • Only one online application is permitted to be submitted by an applicant for the posts of Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical & Quantity Surveying & Contract).
  • Consequently, the applicants are recommended to exercise due persistence at the time of filling their application forms.
  • At the time of appearing in the examination, the candidates will be compulsory to submit a SSC JE 2017 Application From that he has submitted only one application.
  • In case of multiple applications, the last application for which Part-I and Part-II registration have been completed will be accepted.

SSC JE 2017 Exam Pattern

SSC JE 2017 Examination will take place in two stages. The paper first will be of 200 marks whereas the paper second will carry 300 marks. Total 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. According to the examination pattern of SSC JE by the Staff Selection Commission, the appearing applicants for the post of JE (Civil), JE (quantity surveying & contract) should attempt Part A (civil & structural) of papers I & II. On the other hand, appearing aspirants for JE (electrical) need to attempt Part B (electrical) & the candidates appearing for JE (mechanical) have to attempt Part C (mechanical) of Paper I & II. The candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of  Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which  his/her answer sheet (Paper-II)  will not be evaluated. Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (Conventional Type). There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

SSC JE 2017 Syllabus

The standard of the questions in Engineering subjects will be approximate of the level of Diploma in Engineering (Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical/Electronics) from a recognized Institute, Board or University recognized by All India Board of Technical Education.  All the questions will be set in SI units.  The details of the syllabus are given below: Paper-I

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: The Syllabus for General Intelligence would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. The test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate‟s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.
  • General Awareness: Questions will be aimed at testing the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society.  Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.  The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research, etc.  These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

SSC JE 2017 Selection Procedure

There will be two stages for the selection of candidates. The candidates will have to obtain at least passing marks for being selected in SSC JE posts. These two stages are given below: Stage 1: Computer Based Test

  • Computer Based Test (CBT) will be organized for Paper-I.
  • The Paper-I of SSC JE will be of Objective type.
  • The paper first will carry 200 marks in total containing General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness,
  • Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural)
  • Part B: General Engineering (Electrical) and
  • Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Applicants who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper-I will be called for Paper –II (Conventional Type)
  • The Paper –I will be conducted from December 3 to 5, 2017

Stage 2: Written Examination

  • The Paper II will be conventional type
  • The paper second will carry total 300 marks.
  • Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural)
  • Part B: General Engineering (Electrical)
  • Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical)

The final assessment of applicants will be confirmed on the basis of the marks obtained by the aspirants in both Paper-I and Paper-II. The preferences of the posts entered by the candidates will also be given due prominence. Provision to the departments will be completed on the basis of merit. Candidates will be shortlisted and recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their total marks in the Paper – I & II and preference for the posts. Candidates, who are appointed on the basis of this examination, shall be on probation for a period of two years and during the period of probation, the candidates would be required to undergo such training or pass such examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. On successful completion of the period of probation, the candidates shall, if considered fit for permanent appointment, be confirmed to their post by the Controlling Authority.

 SSC JE Admit Card 2017

SSC is likely to release the admit card on the official website regions wise at least 10-15 days before the exam. Candidates will be able to download SSC JE Admit Card 2017 by using their registration number and date of birth. Candidates. The candidates who qualify in the tier I exam will move to tier II exam.

SSC JE Cut Off 2017

SSC JE 2017 Cut off mark will depend on the level of examination. Usually, the cut off goes up if the papers are easy as more number of students are able to solve more question. Following are the tentative cut-off one can expect based on past results.

 SSC JE Answer Keys 2017

Answer Keys will be placed on the Commission's website after the Examination. Candidates may go through the Answer Keys corresponding to their Test Form and submit representations, if any, within the time limit given by the Commission through on-line modality only, on payment of Rs. 100/- per answer. Any representation regarding Answer Key received within the time limit fixed by the Commission at the time of uploading of the Answer Key will be scrutinized and the decision of the Commission in this regard will be final. No. representation regarding Answer Keys shall be entertained, afterwords.

SSC JE Result 2017

After competition of examination on January 8, SSC will release answer keys, thereafter SSC JE 2017 Result for the Tier-I exam would be announced. As per last year pattern, it may be declared in the month of March / April 2018. The results are usually announced in pdf format. Student need to find their name or roll number in the result. If they qualify for the tier II exam, their names and roll number will appear in the merit list.

 How to apply online for SSC JE 2017

  • On-line application will be available from October 18, 2017 to November 18, 2017 upto 5.00 PM).
  • To apply for the examination, candidates are required to register themselves on http://ssconline.nic.in. Candidates may register once and can apply for any Recruitment Examinations advertised by SSC.
  • The Registration facility is available to the candidates throughout the year on website.
  • In the Registration Part, candidates will have to fill in basic information relating to them. On submission of details, candidates shall be prompted to check the details and make, corrections, if any, before submitting the Form.
  • On submission of the Registration Form, a page with Registration ID and password will appear.
  • Note down the Registration ID and Password and keep them safely. This would be your permanent Registration ID & Password which would be required to apply for Selection Posts as well as for any other Recruitment Examination of the Commission.
  • The photograph must be uploaded in jpg format. The digital size of file of the photographs must be more than 4 KB and less than 20 KB. The signature must be uploaded in jpg format. The digital size of the signature file must be more than 1 KB and less than 12 KB. The Registration becomes complete only after the photograph and signature are uploaded by the candidate.
  • After completion of the Registration Part the candidates should proceed to fill up the Online Application Form. Candidates already registered earlier can directly log into the system and proceed to fill up the Application Form.
  • The facility of online application (including payment of fees through SBI net banking / Credit or debit cards of any banks) will be available from 21-10-2017 to 17-11-2017 (upto 5.00 PM). However, candidates who wish to make the payment through challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank up to 20.11.2017 provided the challan has been generated by them before 5.00 PM of 17.11.2017.
