SSC CGL 2016: Staff Selection Commission recommends 687 candidates for appointment

The Staff Selection Commission has released the recommended list of the candidates who successfully qualify in SSC CGL 2016 examination for appointment to various government departments.

The Staff Selection Commission has released the recommended list of the candidates who successfully qualify in SSC CGL 2016 examination for appointment to various government departments. The candidates have been put under the category H, I, X, and Y. The highest number of appointments of 501 have been recommended for X category as accountant/junior accountant in CGA and other offices, followed by 93 appointments under Y category and 69 appointments under I category. About 24 candidates have been recommended to be appointed as assistant in ministries under H category. SSC CGL 2016 result was declared on August 5, 2017. Exam were conducted in 2016.

According to SSC, candidates were arranged in merit order and they were allocated cyclically to the departments with first candidate going to first department, second candidate going to second department and so on subject to availability of vacancies. Allocation was made for horizontal category first and then for vertical category. Every year about 15 lakhs candidates appear for SSC CGL examination. SSC CGL exams are conducted in Tier I and Tier II way. The candidate who qualify for Tier I exam are allowed to appear for Tier II exam. A final selection list is prepared based on SSC criteria and SSC CGL Tier-II result.

Through Combined Graduate Level Examination, SSC fills non-technical Group ‘B' and Group ‘C' non-gazetted posts in various government departments and ministries. The results for recently concluded SSC CGL 2017 Tier I exam will be announced on October 31. SSC CGL 2017 exam was conducted from August 5 to 23. A total of 30,26,599 aspirants have registered for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, out of those about 15 lakh candidates have appeared. Government aims to fill about 4733 vacancies in government departments with this recruitment test.
