(GATE) is all set to begin on Saturday. This year, exam conducting body is IIT Guwahati. As per schedule, GATE 2018 examinations will be held from February 3 to February 11, 2018. has already been issued to candidates. They need to bring the hard copy of the admit card along with an ID proof in the examination hall. “Softcopy of Admit Card in Mobile Phones is not accepted for verification at the examination centre. Please bring a printout of the Admit Card (preferably in color) along with Original Photo ID,” said a notification.

Earlier, the GATE 2018 examination conducting authority had issued the guideline suggesting the candidates what they can do or what they should avoid. In examination hall, candidates are barred to bring items like mobile phones, personal calculators, watches of any kind, any electronic or communicating like bluetooth devices. IIT Guwahati also said that candidates should not bring any scientific calculators as the virtual ones will be made available to them on their computer screens while they are attempting the GATE 2018. To ensure that you do not take any risk or unnecessary tension, reach your examination centre at least an hour prior to the scheduled time of the exam so that you can figure out your hall number and smoothly pass through security.

GATE 2018 examinations will be conducted in 23 subjects in 8 session in online computer based test (CBT) mode. On your screen, the question would be shown and with the help of virtual keypad, you will have to choose right answers. GATE 2018 examinations will be held during the forenoon and afternoon sessions on 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th of February 2018. After completion of the examination, would be announced in due course. However, some of the private institutes are likely to share the tentative answer keys by the end of each day examination.

GATE 2018 Exam Analysis

GATE examination is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission or financial assistance to master's programs and direct doctoral programs in engineering, technology, architecture and doctoral programs in relevant branches of science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship or assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.
